Fishing is available in various lakes (Lough Currane) and watercourses nearby.
Valentia Island can be reached by crossing the road bridge from Portmagee and by car ferry from Renard Point, Cahersiveen to Knightstown. The ferry crossing takes 5 minutes only - daily departure every ten minutes, from April to October: 7.45am to 9.30pm and Sundays 9am to 9.30pm. (in July & August the last ferry leaves at 10pm).
Go on a boat trip to the famous Skellig Rocks (monks from Skellig Michael) from Ballinskelligs or Portmagee.
Families with children or adults who like to eat chocolate, therefore is Skelligs Chocolate Fabrik (Facebook) in St. Finians Bay, the Glen very interesting. There you can taste, shop and enjoy a hot chocolate in the cafe with own products from the factory or with delicious cakes.
For a couple of years, Caherciveen has had its own distillery for gin and whiskey called Skellig Six18 (Facebook). There you can book interesting guided tours througt the distillery, or simply visit the shop.
